Designers seem to love the moleskines. They should try the handmade versions for better paper and covers and less hype.

I really do like the Moleskine sketchbooks, but it always takes me a while to break them in as they are too precious for me. And that's the opposite of what I want my Art Journal to be, I need it to be a place where I can be as messy as I want to be without being afraid of 'ruining' my book.

I like the moleskines too, BUT I like making my own even more. I get the paper I want, a stiff but flexible cover. And it can be done on the cheap. A ream of cardstock will cost you between $10 and $20 a hunk of leather at a craft store about $5. You can make a lot of moleskines out of a ream of card stock. And once you learn the stitch, youre golden. I cant wait to get my class on this up online. Im working on handouts, materials lists and hopefully videos this weekend. My plan is to have it up in the middle of January. If I cant get the videos done this weekend it will have to WAit until after Christmas.
