This video is about how to make a cool grunge textured background. I looks like peeling billboards and paper. Easy to do. You need the following to create this back ground:
- gesso
- acrylic paint
- Glue (PVA)
- Watercolor crayons, pencils or paints
- Spray inks (optional)
- Sanding Sponge or sandpaper
- Magazine with glossy pages.

Nice tutorial! A technique I will have to add to my journals~
Thanks,I will add you on to my twitter~ Msartist03

WOW! Very nice. You did great, Thank you. I really want to get more familiar with making journals, the construction side. I actually made a couple recently but very easy, not too complicated. Your journals are amazing. Someday, I will be able to buy one of the leather one's with the wrap. So cool. Thanx, Sharon

Thanks, I think Im starting to get used to the camera. I did the shooting today for a video about art journaling supplies and the 10 minute video took me 2 hours to get done right! I have to think of it as talking to myself. LOL! I have some links on the left hand side of my blog to binding tutorials, if your interested. I picked them out with beginers in mind. My thought is if you can knit or cross stitch you can make books.

Awesome technique. I've done it before with mags/photos and the glue transfer, but I've not done all the additional steps and sanding etc you've done here. Must try that.

This technique could be grunged up even more by adding black in, or bllue ink, brown etc over the gesso, the possibilities are limitless. Im getting more comfortable with the camera today I shot for a materials video and the 10 minute video took me 2 hours to shoot. Im forcing myself to work on it so there will be more technique and other videos.

The sanding and additional gesso makes the page very smooth for later journaling on or painting/drawing etc. The extra step of sanding is so very worth it.

I love this technique and am waiting for my first layer of Gesso to dry. I have found a suitable magazine to use (!) and I am so excited about trying it. I only made my journal yesterday and having a technique for the first page is delicious. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Cool tutorial!! Also, thanks again for sharing about the type of bottle you use for your spray ink. Mine hasn't clogged up once since I tried it. :)

Ive had one plug up but I suspect its becuase the ink that I mixed into it had a little chunk, no matter I can grab another sprayer for next to nothing!
Glad to see that you like the technique. :)
