Okay I've written ever so briefly about this before but I'm on it again. Sara of GIRLSCANTELL website and etsy shop and I are collaborating on some some pocket sized journals. Yeah, if I say so myself AWESOME!
Sara creates these fantastic designs based on diagrams. Essentially she draws something then diagrams it. They are super cool and fantastic. I'm not alone in my love of anatomic diagrams, as she has one of the human heart and it's superb.
What we did was exchange some items- and I've snet her some uncut untrimmed cover material. She then printed on them with a variety of silkscreens and in a variety of colors and mailed them back to me.
Sometimes in the next few weeks I'll pair the covers with fantastic papers and stitch them into great jotters. Pricing will be determined later and we'll both have them up in our etsy shops.
I love collaborations like this. I love to see what other people do with my jotters. I know that they are great bases for expression as many of mine have doodles and decorations on the covers. It's just great seeing what someone else does with the same materials.
some pictures below:

So I've got my panties all u p in a bunch.
I was on etsy and looking for some cool zines to read. Well when I searched for "zine" etsy brought up all this garbage that wasn't a zine. But it was all tagged"zine." It's clear in etsy policy that if something is miss tagged it should be removed or the tag should be removed. I've reported items before and nothing happened. Perhaps it takes more than one person or report? I don't know but I do know that I'm really tired of people tagging their cards, book marks and other items "recycled" or as a "journal" when it clearly isn't.
So I suggest that this weekend 5/30 through 5/31 that we as etsy sellers and buyers flag everything we come upon as miscategorized if it is, and check those tags and flag them if they are miss-taggeed.
I have tweeted this and hope to see other people onboard.
Regardless of involvement, I WILL be flagging items that are categorized and tagged incorrectly. REmember that every person who goes toetsy and searches for an item and gets a whole bunch of items that are labeled impreoperly that puts each one of us who DO label correctly at a disadvantage- and puts our potential buyers off. A difficult serarch makes everyone less likely to buy in these difficult economic times.

Holy moley! It's been awhile. I've been having god awful allergy issues the last few weeks, as we've had the worst tree pollen season in years here in Mass. It's knocked me for a loop. My allergies aren't that bad, usually but this year I've been virtually immobole. Tree pollen season is here for a few more weeks, so I can expect to feel pretty crappy for another couple of weeks. Blargh.
Good news though. I've been working on my hedgehog (moleskine style) notebooks I"ve got 10 in the press right now drying. Tomorrow night I might be able to get the elastics on them and hopefully listed this weekend. IK've got 8 with leather covers and 2 with handmade paper hardcovers. The paper shear really makes creating them a lot easier. I managed to crack the base of my press the other day and will need to repair it this weekend. It won't be hard just time consuming.
Other good news! I started an ArtFire account and I've got the items listed @10% off for the first month of sales. Right now I've got a stack of lined jotters listed but will list more as time goes on. I'll list a few of my hedgehog (moleskine style) notebooks when I finish them this weekend. Find the link on the right of my page that should take you directly to my artfire account!
I have the guts of many more hedgehogs ready to go too. I need to get stitching. The rest of this week is supposed to be rainy so I guess I know what i'll be doing!
I'm also on twitter! You can follow me @Lessherger be prepared though, i use it to soupt off and occasionally put up discount codes for etsy. Also I'm on facebook! You can be a fan of Comfortable Shoes Studio or friend me. Again I'll be putting discount codes up on the the various sites and announcing sales and what not.

Not so much an ode but I am definitely in love with the new size of jotter. Because the covers are stiff but flexible they roll and fit into a back pocket easily. The page size is perfect for extended journaling as well as larger sketches and doodles. Now that I have a desk job I can bring the larger size in my bag more easily. I don't have to have my notebook secreted away in a pocket anymore so this size is perfect for me. The number of pages is JUST right for a month or so of journaling. So if your participating in a 365 project these larger Jotters would be prefect for that sort of thing.
Anyway. I'm loving the new size and because of that I'm going to keep making them! IF you haven't tried the large size of Jotter you should. I'll offer 10% off to anyone who buys a large jotter set over the next week (ends May 17th) use discount code CSStwit4 in notes to seller on etsy. YOu can find the large jotters on my etsy shop here.

OK some interesting happenings in the land of books, atleast interesting for me and hopefully all you who read this!!!
Sara of GirlsCanTell blog and etsy shop and I are collaborating on a project. I’m mailing her a stack of unfinished covers and some finished jotters and she’s going to print some of her completely awesome screen prints on the jotters and covers. She’ll mail the covers back to me and I’ll stitch them up into books. I’ll sell the books on my site and she’ll sell the finished printed jotters on her site. I’m really really excited about this collaboration because I really LOVE her work. I’m a big fan of diagrams and sunscreens so to have someone who does a combination of those 2 things working who likes my work is an awesome feeling. So it will be really cool to get the finished artwork and photograph the process! ROCK ON!
